Greater Manchester Health Protection Teams presents a new series of Infection Prevention and Control webinars. This webinar is called ‘When bugs fight back: antimicrobial resistance and what adult social care can do’ on 24th February 14:00-15:00 on MS Teams.
This webinar is aimed at staff working in all areas of adult social care.
It will focus on the vital role the sector plays in tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and supporting effective antimicrobial stewardship (AMS).
The webinar includes a real-life outbreak case study of CPE (Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales) in a care home to illustrate how multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs) can spread within care settings.
This will highlight how infection prevention and control can significantly reduce the risk of multi drug resistant infections and improve outcomes for people who draw on care and support.
The session will also introduce the new MDRO guidance and how providers can use this to strengthen local policies and day-to-day practice.
Overall, the session aims to increase confidence, awareness, and practical capability within ASC to help prevent infection, limit the spread of resistance, and protect residents, staff, and the wider health and care system.
