Greater Manchester is the UK\u2019s first Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia hosted by Manchester Camerata. Funding has been secured to support three years of direct music support activities across all of Greater Manchester\u2019s 10 boroughs.<\/p>\n

Manchester Camerata are working in partnership with the Alzheimer\u2019s Society and the University of Manchester to offer research-backed music cafes for both their \u2018Music in Mind\u2019 programme and \u2018Singing for the Brain\u2019, which will help take pressure off frontline health and care staff.<\/p>\n

Music in Mind Music Cafes\u00a0musicinmind.org<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Music in Mind enables the person with dementia to express themselves through music. Using percussion instruments and music tracks, these fun sessions support the person with dementia and their carers to find new ways to communicate non verbally.<\/p>\n

There are 20 Music Caf\u00e9s open for referrals across Greater Manchester. Our Session Schedule | Music in Mind<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Free to attend for people with dementia and their carers. No music experience required.<\/p>\n

Singing for the Brain | Alzheimer\u2019s Society (alzheimers.org.uk)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Singing for the Brain brings people affected by dementia together to sing a variety of songs they know and love, in a fun and friendly environment.\u00a0We also do vocal exercises that help improve brain activity and wellbeing.<\/p>\n
