I am writing to let you know that the NIHR ARC-GM Internship and Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Awards are now open for applications. Applications will close at 5pm on Monday 1st<\/sup>\u00a0June<\/strong>. These opportunities are a great way for those working in health and\u00a0care systems and Local Authorities in Greater Manchester to develop their career in applied research.<\/p>\n

Internships<\/strong><\/p>\n

Internships<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0entry-level opportunities designed for staff who have little or no research experience who wish to explore applied health or care research as a potential career path. Internships are for up to 30 days (225 hours), taken flexibly over 4-12 months. The award\u00a0includes a \u00a32k training budget and up to \u00a310k salary backfill<\/strong>\u00a0paid to the employing organisation.<\/p>\n

Pre-Doctoral Fellowships<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pre-Doctoral Fellowships<\/a>\u00a0are aimed at staff who have some research experience who wish to go on and develop a competitive PhD proposal in an area of applied health or care research. Successful applicants will undertake their Fellowship over one year (at up to 0.5 FTE)\u00a0or two years (up to 0.25 FTE). ARC-GM is able to contribute up to a maximum of \u00a325k per Fellowship towards salary backfill<\/strong>, paid to the employing organisation, and a \u00a32k training budget<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Please note that we particularly encourage those from under-served backgrounds to apply \u2013 this includes those from professions where there is a need for additional research support, such as nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, allied health professions, social work and social care, commissioning and public health. A PDF version of the form is also attached for you to review the questions if you wish before submitting the application.<\/p>\n

To support those intending to apply to the programmes, we will be holding two Question & Answer sessions on Tuesday 5th<\/sup>\u00a0May and Friday 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0May.
