Rochdale Borough will have new mental health support teams working in participating schools who can respond to the emotional and mental health concerns pupils may experience. These teams will build on the emotional and mental health support already in place in the borough, including their early intervention service – #Thrive, their specialist child and adolescent mental health service (Healthy Young Minds), school counsellors, school nurses, educational psychologists and the voluntary sector, to offer timely assessments and interventions for pupils in need, and ensuring a seamless pathway into other services where appropriate.
The schools taking part will have their own senior mental health lead among their staff, who will work closely with the mental health support teams, alerting them to any emotional health concerns or symptoms among pupils, and helping to ensure a ‘whole school’ approach to mental health.
