{"id":5212,"date":"2025-06-13T10:19:39","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T09:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hub.gmintegratedcare.org.uk\/mental-health\/?p=5212"},"modified":"2025-06-13T12:09:55","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T11:09:55","slug":"greater-manchester-exceeds-national-target-for-physical-health-checks-for-people-with-smi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hub.gmintegratedcare.org.uk\/mental-health\/whats-new\/greater-manchester-exceeds-national-target-for-physical-health-checks-for-people-with-smi\/","title":{"rendered":"Greater Manchester Exceeds National Target for Physical Health Checks for People with SMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to share that Greater Manchester has surpassed the national target for GP Physical Health Checks for people with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) in 2024\/25 &#8211; a fantastic achievement for our system.\u00a0 At year-end, 19,075 people with SMI received a full physical health check from their GP, out of 27,215 registered \u2013 representing <strong>70% coverage<\/strong>, well above the national ambition of 60%.\u00a0 <strong>Every locality across Greater Manchester achieved above the national 60% target<\/strong>, reflecting a strong collective effort across primary care, mental health, and community services to tackle health inequalities and improve outcomes for people with SMI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why this matters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People living with SMI face significant health inequalities and are at greater risk of dying prematurely, often from preventable physical health conditions. Ensuring timely physical health checks helps identify risks early, support better care, and save lives.
