About the social care academy

The Greater Manchester Social Care Academy is here to support the learning and development of anyone working in social care across our ten localities. We also provide information, guidance & support for anyone wishing to enter a job in Adult Social Care across Greater Manchester. So that they can contribute to the delivery outstanding care and support to the people of Greater Manchester.

The GM Social Care Academy provides support and guidance for anyone wanting to, or already working in the Adult Social Care Sector; from finding your first job to progressing onto your next.

The GM Social Care Academy can help you to find training opportunities and information on career pathways. If you are a  social care provider then there are also resources here for you.

 

The GM Social Care Academy hopes to achieve a sustainable, flexible, and integrated social care workforce. This means having a team of people who can provide the best care and support now and in the future.

It involves creating clear career paths in social care, offering ongoing learning opportunities throughout life.

Staff who feel supported, valued and equipped with the right skills are able to provide better care.

We want everyone who works in Adult Social Care in Greater Manchester to be aware of training & career development opportunities available so they can reach their full potential and be recognised for the outstanding workforce they are

Our systems are evolving to ensure we have enough skilled workers, introduce new roles, and develop our leaders. Better partnership arrangements will help us connect and collaborate effectively to serve those in need.

The Social Care Academy is part of the Adult Social Care Workforce Transformation programme, supported by NHS Manchester and the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership (GMIC).

As the academy grows, it will benefit from a collaboration between all of our partners and practitioners in social care.

Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership (Greater Manchester ICP) brings together all health and social care partners across Greater Manchester and wider public sector and community organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of the 2.8 million people who live in Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester ICP connects NHS Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester NHS Trusts and NHS providers across the whole of primary care with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, 10 local councils and partners across the Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VSCFE) sector, the 10 local Healthwatch and the Trades Unions. Together as partners, we take actions which make a difference to the health of the population of Greater Manchester.
