International recruits play an important role in health and care service delivery in the UK, certainly as we address workforce shortages within the sector.

We are committed

To working with our partners Greater Manchester, ensuring that we recruit from overseas in an ethically responsible manner.

Since 2023, the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership works closely with the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester to support Care Providers who recruit internationally, as well as the recruits themselves. During our partnership, we have strengthened relationships with various agencies to enhance the support for safe international recruitment practices within our area, including:

  • The Department of Health and Social Care
  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority
  • Local Authority Commissioning teams
  • UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI)
  • Greater Manchester Police
  • Independent charities
  • Adult Safeguarding
  • Gangmasters Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA)

In line with the Code of Practice for International Recruitment, we are committed as a collaborative to:

  • Promoting high standards of practice in the ethical international recruitment and employment of health and social care personnel, ensuring all international recruitment is conducted in accordance with internationally agreed principles of transparency and fairness
  • Protecting and promoting health and social care system sustainability through international co-operation, by ensuring safeguards and support for countries with the most pressing health and social care workforce challenges
