An apprenticeship is a structured program where individuals learn a specific profession through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. It’s a hands-on approach to learning that allows apprentices to gain practical skills directly in the workplace under the guidance of experienced professionals. Apprentices can be either an existing employees looking to upskill or a new member of staff.

Here’s how it typically works: an apprentice works for an employer, known as a sponsor, and receives training and mentorship from skilled workers or mentors within that organization. The apprentice learns the essential skills by carrying out the job role and the training provider covers the knowledge and theory aspects.

Current Social care Apprenticeship options are can be found here.

Many organisations expect seniors/team leaders to have or be working towards a Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship and managers/registered managers to have or be working towards a Level 5 Leader in Adult Care apprenticeship. For more information, please visit here.
