The GM Social Care Academy have collated training offers for Adult Social Care Staff in Greater Manchester. Some offers are freely available from other training providers, and some have been developed by the Social Care Academy with partners such as the GM Training Hub and Manchester Adult Education.

Making Every Contact Count for Mental Health – Train the Trainer
Making Every Contact Count (MECC)
MECC aims to help people make healthier choices. Supporting staff to engage in positive conversations about mental health and wellbeing with people they interact with every day. This training will enable you to deliver MECC for Mental Health. You will be required to go back to your workplaces and train your colleagues on the MECC for Mental Health approach.

Training from NWTDT Pathways Associates
This training is available for GM health and social care staff. Many workshops are free, because they have been fully funded by the GM commissioners, (more coming online). There may be some charges for workshops delivered by Salford Learning Disability Team (free to social care providers in Salford, small charge for social care providers in the rest of GM). There are also chargeable workshops such as the Oliver McGown Mandatory Training workshops, any health or social care professional can attend but there is a charge.

An Introduction to Empowered Conversations – Professionals
17th September 11.00 -12.00
Empowered Conversations deliver dementia focused communication courses for families and professionals across Greater Manchester. In this free 1 hour introduction to Empowered Conversations, participants will be given the opportunity to pause and reflect on communication and take away some new approaches around improving connections with people living with dementia. The session will be delivered on Zoom, participants can access this via a smart phone, tablet or laptop, ideally one person per devise and you will need to be in a quiet place with a good wifi connection.
