NMC CODE REVIEW MIDWIFERY ROUNDTABLE

We’re currently reviewing the Code to help ensure it reflects today’s health and social care landscape, the evolving roles of professionals, and meets the ongoing expectations of the public, professionals and employers.

As part of our review – and ahead of public consultation in the autumn – we’re holding an online roundtable to hear views from midwives, and student midwives, about:

– Areas to strengthen in the Code from a midwifery and maternity safety perspective.

– How the Code and its underpinning guidance could set clearer expectations in areas including:

  • Anti-discrimination and anti-racism
  • Use of technology, including AI
  • Behaviour outside of practice, including use of social media
  • Raising concerns and the duty of candour

The roundtable will last for 90 minutes – it will be an interactive session where after a short presentation to open, we’ll invite attendees to feed back and discuss our proposals.

It takes place from 11:00-12:30 on Wednesday 13 May – you can register here. Please note that to allow meaningful discussions, places are limited and registration is first come first served.

If you have any questions please email Codeandrevalidationreviews@nmc-uk.org. For more information about the Code review – and the revalidation review taking place in parallel – please see our website.

We hope you can join us.

With best wishes
