You may be aware of the ongoing fire at Dovestone and the resulting smoke plume affecting parts of Greater Manchester.
Following , we would ask providers to consider taking appropriate precautions to protect the health and wellbeing of residents, staff and visitors. In particular:
- Keep doors and windows closed where possible to advice from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS)minimise smoke entering buildings.
- Consider closing blinds or curtains where appropriate to help reduce heat within the building.
- Continue to monitor the welfare of residents, particularly those with respiratory conditions or other health vulnerabilities.
- Use professional judgement to balance the need to reduce smoke exposure with the need to maintain a safe and comfortable indoor temperature during the current hot weather conditions.
- Ensure staff remain vigilant for any residents who may be experiencing adverse effects from poor air quality and seek appropriate medical advice where required.
