NHS talking therapies (perinatal support)
You can self-refer to talking therapy services at any time or you may be referred by your midwife or health visitor or GP. When you are expecting a baby and during the first 2 years of your baby’s life you will be prioritised for therapy. There are a range of therapy options available, and you will have an opportunity to think with the clinician about what might be the best way forward. Some of the services offered are:
- one off workshops
- short courses
- 1:1 brief therapy
- group therapy
- 1:1 extended therapy
There are many different forms of support available and a health professional such as your GP, midwife, or health visitor, can work with you to identify what help you may need and the best approach for you and your family.
